Principal's Corner

PDFPrintE-mail
My name is Michelle Mena and I am so excited about joining the team of educators in the Whiteville City Schools system!  As part of the team at North Whiteville Academy I am incredibly lucky to be part of such an outstanding staff.  We have wonderful teachers and support staff who are each dedicated to making our school a positive place for children to learn.  We work together as a professional team to create an effective teaching and learning environment and we won't accept anything less than the best from ourselves or our students.

After high school I attended Fayetteville Technical Institute then worked as a dental assistant for 4 years.  I have also worked making salads in the kitchen at 316 Oyster Bar in Fayetteville, as a hostess at several restaurants, as a switchboard operator at JCPenney, at the customer service desk at K-Mart, at the jewelry counter at Sam's Club, and at Good Shepherd Homeless Shelter in Wilmington on the weekends.

Prior to joining the team in Whiteville City I worked for the Bladen County Schools system for 7 years serving as the principal at Clarkton School of Discovery and with the Cumberland County Schools system as a kindergarten teacher assistant at Westarea Elementary, a substitute teacher throughout the county, a second grade teacher at Howard Hall Elementary, a fourth grade teacher at Howard Hall Elementary and a seventh grade teacher at Pine Forest Middle School.  I was an assistant principal at Long Hill Elementary and an assistant principal at Max Abbott Middle School.

This will be an awesome year here at North Whiteville Academy!
