The NWA school counselor helps students develop the academic and social skills needed to succeed, personally and professionally. In addition, the counselor helps students overcome obstacles that may inhibit their learning.
4 Components
1. Classroom Guidance Activities - These activities may be conducted in the classroom, guidance office or other school facilities.
2. Individual Student Planning - The Counselor helps students acquire self-appraisal skills; personal and social development skills; and educational, career and workforce.
3. Responsive Services-These services include counseling or referral activities that meet the immediate needs or concerns of the student.
4. System Support - The support includes indirect guidance management activities that maintain and enhance the total counseling & guidance program.
